I uploaded a few of pictures onto the gallery here. I was also amongst the few who were on the final ride as well. And I even made it onto the evening news.

It was disgustingly hot out, over 100 degrees. Everything is so overpriced at Universal. Fortunately it wasnt as crowded as I thought it would be. The heat might have kept people at home. Either way, nothing was going to keep me from going there. I bought a place ticket to fly across the country for the final BTTF ride. And it all was so worth it.

But all in all Im proud to have been on the final ride.

I often wonder who some of these people are, that are listed "in memory" at the end of different shows.

Well, I did find a Kelly Lindquist on IMDb: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0512111/ It says she (-Kelly Ann-) was (a?) costumer for Cold Case. I looked at the full list of credits, and it shows BTTF II & III as her first two movie costumer credits. IMDb lists a birth year, but no other info. From what little I can find via Google, she passed away just over a year ago, very unexpectedly.

Here is a paper I wrote in college for this stupid "research" class. We were able to choose any topic, so I chose time travel:

Question:
Is time travel possible and if so, what physics support it, and are there any physical/ethical consequences of time travel?

Purpose:
I am studying the scientific possibility of time travel. I would like to know who is involved in the theories behind time travel, how (and if) it works physically, and the physical/ethical consequences of traveling though time.

Problem Statement:
Physicists have been researching the concept of time travel for close to a century. There have been many published theories, including some from Albert Einstein that support the concept of traveling through time. This study is to determine the possibility of time travel, and if possible, determine the physical and ethical consequences of traveling through time.

Methodology:
Unfortunately, despite all the physical research that supports time travel, there have not been any cited experiments which resulted in a successful travel through time. This is excluding, of course, the fact that astronaut’s age at a slower rate in space than people on earth. From all my research, the easiest way to create a time machine and travel through time is to create a wormhole. If I have an access to both ends of the wormhole, I will need to move one of the ends at the speed of light towards space and then return it to the same location as the other end. In theory, entering one end of the wormhole and exiting through the other will take either into the future or past. (even if it’s a few seconds apart) If I can keep the wormhole traveling into space for a longer period of time (several years) and then bring it back to the origin, I would be able to significantly jump between two time periods.

Two things currently stopping me from doing this is the ability to create wormholes (not to mention a wormhole the size a human can fit into) and the ability to transport one of the ends at the speed of light. Once technology advances far enough to allow me to do this, I can then begin my experiment on the ethical/physical consequences of time travel. An example of an ethical consequence would be to travel into the future and find out lottery number results and then to travel back and bet on those numbers. A physical dilemma would be to travel back in time and (for arguments sake) shoot my grandmother. If she is killed, then I won’t exist, but if I don’t exist, then I wouldn’t be able to travel back in time and kill her. It’s a paradox. Would the space-time continuum be able to fix this? Or possibly this event could destroy the universe as we know it. This latter solution makes me wonder if we cease the exploration of time travel altogether.
- For me, the first movie had the best story and most likeable characters. (the sequels kinda used the same formula) Just the idea of being able to go back in time to see your parents when they were teenagers was so interesting.

But coming in at a close second is BTTF2. The last 30 minutes of that film where Marty has to go BACK to 1955, and we as an audience get to see him interact with scenes from the first movie was pure genius.

Here's an interesting question that I found on the web -- maybe you guys have an answer for. But be careful, after you finish reading it, you may go cross-eyed:

Whatever happened to Marty II? Marty II was the creation of Marty I when he wanted to save Doc from the Lybians by setting the time to 10 minutes before he left 1955. As a result, when Marty arrives to 1985 2 at the end of the first movie,he saw himself being chased by the Lybians, watching history repeating itself,by creating a second trip to 1955 by the second Marty.Marty returns to 1985 2,where George McFly is a success, and Biff is under his supervision.

We then see this Marty II again in 1955 when Marty I sneaks to Mr.Strickland s office,Marty II is redoing Marty I s first trip.

Marty I recovers the almanac and then we see Marty II leaving to the dance to make sure George and Lorraine kiss.Marty I sees Marty II playing Jhonny B Goode, and later, after Marty I prepares to meet Doc in the roof,he is caught by Biff, who wants to revenge.Marty II leaves, and by accident,he hits Marty I with the door.

The last we see of Marty II is when he is returning to 1985 just like Marty I did at the end of the first BTTF.Marty II and Doc have a plan to retrieve the almanac from Biff, but things goes bad for Doc after a lighting takes him back to 1885.

At this point there were 2 Martys:The Marty that was trapped in 1885 with Doc,and the Marty that was sent to 1985 at the end of the first movie.
(Call him Marty II).

Marty I leaved 1885 and returned to the present,but....wasnt there already Marty II?
If Marty I and II are from the same 1985 2,
then that would have made 2 Martys in 1985 2!

Or what,Marty II just desintegrates?
Was Marty II transported to his very own 1985 2 reality? What happened to Marty II?!

BTTF Travel Explained

"Disclaimer: Paradoxes as to motive for time travel are not currently taken into account on this message. There are a lot in BTTF, and would be in time travel anyway. Also, the reasoning on why Marty and Jennifer aren't considered missing in 2015 is not written here. If other fans want to discuss it, I can't wait to hear it!

As we all know, the BTTF Trilogy is told from the perspective of Marty McFly. The theory of relativity essentially says that change is relative to perspective of an object (or traveler). In this case, the change is time and the object is Marty (the traveler). Marty doesn't change in the movie because he is the traveler that time changed AROUND, not THROUGH. Imagine us watching planets - we see them at the speed they come into our view at out particular coordinate on Earth; They may change course when out of sight, but we won't know until we see its variation from the orbit, or it may just be the pattern of the planet. We wouldn't change ( without respect to gravitational pull, etc.) internally though our external is skewed.

When it comes to theories of time, a change wouldn't occur until the instant when the time traveler leaves his origin and travels to the PAST. When Marty came back 10 minutes early in BTTF, even though the signs says Lone Pine Mall, I have to believe it was done for the effect of the audience to see how Marty changed time. It should've changed after the "younger" Marty left. At that point, "older" Marty was in the parking lot, tending to Doc. If you notice, Doc isn't checked until the "younger" Marty leaves - he has a vest on AFTER Marty left to 1955 and was able to inform him. In other words, Marty is always Twin Pine. His infinite number of time traveling doubles are superimposed (Why? - time is moving forward; from our perspective, we're supposed to see it continue on in its linear fashion. so should the non time travelers) His likeness (Switzerland Marty) can remain, because they're experience leads them to not be the SAME PERSON.

This is already a long post, but there's more to come. Here are some "rules" I devised with respect to BTTF and the timelines it covers. Remember, we have to use the perspective of Marty.

1. There is one "common" timeline, with several alterations.

2. Those who travel do not change; they maintain the memory of the state they left.

3. Time travel, to the past or present, can only be made to the timeline you immediately came from. Once there is an altering event, history changes for those around you from then on, and branches to the next timeline. The exception is when the time traveler goes back before the altering event occurred. (ex. as soon as Old Biff gave Young Biff the book, 2015 became 2015A, and Marty could only travel to 85A; but because he got to Biff before he acquired, memorized and used information about future sports gambling, we were allowed to see the 1955 as we saw it in part 1).

Now here's the timeline with variations I created to prove this case.

Twin Pine/Clayton Ravine - Everyone knows and remembers this existence. Marty travels back to 1955, and knocks down a tree. Everyone, except Marty (who will perpetually travel back in time, get his parents together and come back as Twin Pine in that juncture in his life) has memories of a Lone Pine existence since 1955. His parents get together for the better and the life they lead for 30 years is the same to everyone but Marty. At that point, it becomes LONE PINE/CLAYTON RAVINE. This includes TP Marty, LP Doc, LP Jen, LP Einstein. They travel to the future in this line, and Biff steals the almanac. The point when Biff travels back to 1955, everthing changes to ALTERNATE, except our time travelers, because it's their perspective. When they return to 1985, they realize the different life. They enter 1955 before it becomes alternate and seize the book. At that point, everyone (or should I say, those that are to experience the near future) but TP Marty and LP Doc become Lone Pine/Clayton Ravine again. When Doc gets sent back to 1885, saves Clara and then gets shot, we now have a TP/CR Marty, with everyone else remembering Sonash Ravine and of course, Lone Pine Mall. At the point Marty goes to save Doc, and people thought he was killed)everything post 1885 is now Lone Pines/Eastwood Ravine, but the two travelers. Marty is Twin Pine/Clayton Ravine, and Doc is Lone Pine/Clayton Ravine. If this long explanation isn't simply enough, just think about all the parts where they find the connection to their time alteration, e.i. "After all, Miss Clayton almost ended up at the bottom of Clayton Ravine... Clayton Ravine!"
